Pretty good book
I liked this book a lot. it was one of the first books i ever read by Christopher Pike, and it is the one that got me interested in him. I love Mr. Pike because he is not afraid to be graphic, and he stretches to the limits in his young adult books. He doesn't treat teens as people who can be influenced by the books they read, and he is excellent at describing all of his scenes. (especially the bloody ones. my fav!) I reccomend that you read this book, even if you don't usually read Mr. Pike's books. I guarentee you will start!

doesn't this remind u of another pike classic??
when u read about the boat scene.. doesn't it flash u back to fall into darkness? about Anne's book that John finds?? Hmmm...

BEST PIKE BOOK YET!
This was one of my favorite Pike books. I have read almost all of his books, but I have read this one 5 times. It is an exciting look at mystery, but at the same time it is exactly how high school actually is.

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS ONE OF THE FIRST CHRIS PIKE BOOKS I EVER READ, AND IT GOT ME HOOKED! THIS IS GOING TO GO DOWN IN MY LIFE AS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ. THE WHOLE SERIES WAS AMAZING. GO OUT AND BUY THIS BOOK NOW!

OKAY THIS WAS THE BEST
Okay I love Christopher Pike because he's one of the best writer's out there, and I really think that the Final Friends Trilogy is the best he's ever written. The character's actually are believable contrary to what certain readers may think, and the way he presents them makes you feel like you've known them forever. The amazing thing about him is that he is always able to come up with new and original ideas about how to create the perfect murder, if you look at any of his books the parts about how someone was killed is never lame. These are such great books, if you haven't read them then you really should because they're exceptional. Last Act, Weekend, Remember Me, and Master of Murder are really good too, hell all of his books are good. And Mr. Pike if you're reading which I doubt you are, but just incase there are traces of Michael and Jessica in you and the girl you liked in high school. :) ym012@hotmail.com

A VERY surprising ending...
I had never even read the first book in this trilogy, but I had read the 2nd one, and just last week, I bought the 3rd one. This book was very suspenseful, and the ending was so shocking that I never even saw it coming.

Michael gathers a lot of clues to finding out the murderer (hint, it was not Clark, the dead Alice McCoy's mysterious boyfriend). On the senior all-night cruise trip to Catalina, he and Jessica reveal their true feeling for each other( after Jessica tries to get Bill to have sex with her and Sara tries to get Russ to do it with her, too. They even bought condoms and the like. Both guys refuse to, thank God). Michael (and Maria) gets everyone from the party (except Kats) to have a meeting. Michael tells everyone what he has found, and they all believe him.

This is my favorite part in the book, by the way. I can't say any other details, like who fired the gun shot, but that ultimately, the death of Alice was an accident. Read this book to find out all the details concerning everything that happened the night of the party when Alice died. Qian L.

Eerily Like the Dramas On Television Every Day
I read this book when I was in ninth grade. I'm still impressed with the material, though perhaps the writing is not that great. I thought the characters were wonderful, full of real human emotions. The story is written in third-person but it is from the point of view of a male, unlike many of Christopher Pike's other books, who is somewhat of a flawed hero who does not come to a happy end by the conclusion. It is full of tragic characters, all of whom are connected in a bizarre, yet somewhat realistic situation. I was particularly impressed with all the ways in which the story comes together by the end, as if all the loose ends are being tied together. And the main character, Herb, realizes a valuable lesson. In life, people are not always as they seem.

cool
How far would you go for the person you loved? The person you had a crush on for years and you'd do anything for them to pay attention to you, anything so that they'd feel the same way. That's the way Herb Trasker feels about his crush Alexa. When one of his friends, one of the few that he has, suggests that he play a harmless prank on the cheerleaders by leaving his camera in the girls shower and photographing them. What turns out as a harmless prank doesn't end up so harmless after all, when Herb finds a picture with a girl getting killed. And, it's his beloved Alexa. Then, the girl that's in the picture ends up dying in a car crash. But, there's always a but, the picture shows that the girl might have been dead long before the car accident. It leads to a bizarre chain of events and well, you have to read the book to find out.

Great Book
I've been into his books since last summer and Ive gotten to be very obssessed with his books and I found it interesting when i read that the death of a cheerleader had happened and they didnt exactly understand how and Herb had been interested in taking a couple of pictures of the cheerleaders when they were taking showers and actually got a hold of pictures of how maybe that cheerleader was murdered before tha car accident... this book was great it had alot of confusion on who dunnit and everything you would barely guess who did I give it 5 stars because it was great and gave you enough details and all to understand the story it wasnt provoking at all if it was well that why its a young adult novel!! It was still a great book another masterpiece for Mr. Pike!

Monster
Published in Library Binding by Turtleback Books Distributed by Demco Media (November, 2001)
Author: Christopher Pike
Average review score:

A facinating novel of horror.
Monster is one of the great books I have read. It fills with action and terror that draws readers' attention into the story, bringing great excitement in their imagination. It is about a young woman named Angela Warner who doesn't believe the fact that her boyfriend, Jim, and the high school students her best friend, Mary Carlson, had killed were actually monsters. Then, she later discovers the horror behind Jim's relationship with her. Feeling frightened and confused, she seems to go crazy, wondering whether she should let Mary keeps on killing while there is still time to stop the hungry thing from spreading.

As I was reading, all of the screams and blood through out the story facinates me, giving me the chills and shivers. It was so interesting that I couldn't stop reading it. If you are those who love horror stories and are in for a scare, I highly recommend it.

ONE OF THE BEST PIKE BOOKS!!!
This one one of my favorite Books bu Christopher Pike. The Plot is excellent and the story is so gripping that i couldn't put it down. It's all about a girl named Mary who goes into a pary and kills two people. She tries to kill more but gets arrested. When her friend Angela visits her in jail the next day, she says she killed them because they were no longer human. Angela eventually becomes friends with one of the people Mary tries to kill, but after a while strange things start to happen, and Angela investigates further into Mary's claim. Then she discovers whats really going on. It is a but gory so some people might not want to read it, but for the rest of you, I strongly recomned this!

One of my two favorite books in the whole world.
This book was one of the first I ever read by him and I loved it. My two favorite books in the whole world are by Christopher Pike. They are "Monster" and "The Season of Passage." Those two books scared me so bad but were so good I just loved them. There are even a few similarities between them: horrible alien monsters from another world try to destroy the Earth and take it over. I read almost all of his books and am very familiar with his work and style. He is one of my favorite authors.

Immortal
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Authors: Christopher Pike and Patricia MacDonald
Average review score:

A REVIEW ON THE BOOK " THE IMMORTAL"
It's an excellent book, with a very slight hint of funniness, and just enough scariness to keep you on your toes.Christopher Pike is a great writer, with loads of good ideas, and his books are the kind that you can read over and over again and still wonder what's going to happen next. When I read The Immortal, I got confused at some points of it, but ,I suppose that was because it was four o'clock in the morning!Otherwise,I totally enjoyed it ,I mean it's not the kind of book you would read "because you're bored" I read it practically every day because I like the book.If you read it I hope you like it too

Educational and Thrilling at the same time
Because this was the first Pike book I read, it reigns as a favorite. Because I am a fan of Greek mythology, this book was a learning experiance as well and entertaining. The final scene couldn't get any more thrilling. Delos was an excellant place to plot this book in, it just makes you want to go there now

An interesting mix of Mythology and Horror
My favorite Christopher Pike book, "The Immortal" has an interesting blend of Greek Mythology and scary horror. It was what got me started on mythology. The main villan Helen was twisted and evil and I cheered Josie on in those last few chapters. No matter how air-headed she sounded at the begining of the book, the girl had some brains behind her. She made a great heroine. If you need a good book to read, pick this book up!

Sati
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (March, 2001)
Author: Christopher Pike
Average review score:

Amazing
Christopher Pike has always had a wonderful and unique way of writing all his books. Every single one is different in their styles. Sati is a wonderful book about a young lady who is picked up by a trucker on the highway and is brought home to stay with. She is mysterious and comes with no possessions except the cloths that she wears and the shoes on her feet. She also makes a startling announcement. That she is God. Throughout the book she manages to do wonderful things with the people she comes in contact with A very wonderful story that everyone must read.

A WONDERFUL BOOK FOR ALL!!!!
I use the name Sati when I am on the internet for the simple fact that this book truly changed me. Yes, I know the difference between fiction and reality, but this book is a true inspriation. I have learned to take things in stride now. I beleive the message of the book is to be happy. Don't try to conform to the world but just be. Sati is a wonderful and inspiring book. I was hooked from the first page and didn't put it down untill three hours later when I was done. She was contridictory, but said many things I could beleive. She inspired me to change religions. A rather easy decision since I had yet to find a religion I liked. I now study Wicca, and encourage others to read up on it. I am a 15 year old w/ a open mind and would like to hear others opinions. Sati is Christopher Pike's best adult novel. A wonderful and insperational book with well developed loveable charatcters and a wonderful content.

It's the most amazing Christopher Pike book I've ever read
I'm a big fan of Christopher Pike books and was looking forward to reading it. It pulled me into the story from the first page. It really shows how the different characters feel about Sati, a girl who thinks that she is God. It's a wonderful book and I think everyone should read it.

Chain Letter
Published in Paperback by Avon (May, 1986)
Author: Christopher Pike
Average review score:

"Do Not Ignore This Letter... Or You Will Suffer..."
"Chain Letter" is somewhat similar to Lois Duncan's "I Know What You Did Last Summer," involving a hit and run, and Pike's two books: "Last Act" (relating to a high school play) and "Weekend" (similar group ending). Prior to receiving a threatening chain letter, all seven friends (Alison Parker, Fran Darey, Brenda Paxson, Kipp Coughlan, Tony Hunt, Neil Hurly, and Joan Zuchlensky) were involved in a hit and run. They buried the body of the anonymous man in the California desert, and a short time later, they began receiving instructions from someone ("the Caretaker") who knows about their past. And if they don't follow these orders--like desecrating the school mascot, purposely flunking a test, publicly embarrassing several teachers, streaking naked at school, and burning down the school--they could all end up dead.

Christopher Pike is, without a doubt, one of my favorite YA writers. I've been reading and re-reading his books for about 15 years now. Though his books are geared for teenagers, they're intelligent and complex enough to satisfy most adult suspense readers as well (speaking as one). The pace in "Chain Letter" isn't quite as smooth as some of his others, though, but it's still a pretty good teen thriller. Worth reading if you're a Pike fan, in addition to the sequel: "Chain Letter 2: The Ancient Evil."

An exciting and sad ending
A review by Daisy
Seven teenagers committed a horrible crime last summer. They promised each other not to tell a soul about this dark deep secret. But some how somebody has discovered their secret and they are after them. One by one of them they start getting chain letters making them do dares that nobody would even think of doing on a sleepover. If they didn't attempted or did their dares things were going to start happening, bad things. Bad things did happen to some of them because they couldn't bare to go through such embarrassing dares, and they refused on doing them. They started getting hurt and some started missing. Some of them did their dares not wanting to get hurt but wanting this horrible nightmare to be over as soon as possible. Alison the main character tries to figure this mystery that is killing one by one of her good friends. It could even cost her and her friends lives. This book brings exciting parts and too much detail on horrible hurtful seines. This book has a very exciting and sad ending.

One of Christopher Pike's Best
Chain letter was fantastic! It was a page turner that kept you guessing. The ending was a complete surprise! In some ways it is similar to Lois Duncan's I Know What You Did Last Summer, but this plot is more complex and more enjoyable to read. If you are a Christopher Pike fan (like me) you will love this book, and if you aren't, then you should still read it

MASTER OF MURDER
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Simon Pulse (01 July, 1992)

What Happened to harry?
A review by Ellie
This book was about a teenage boy named Marvin. He was a famous author of Murder mystery type books. Nobody knew his real identity and he didn't want them to. He kept it a secret from everyone, except his little sister. Then one day he was reading his fan mail and someone sent him a typed message saying "I know who you are" and he didn't know who it could be. It was sent from the town he was living in too so it wasn't just a joke. He started going out with this girl and she wanted him to find out who killed her brother Harry and how it happened. He's trying to figure out an ending to the series he is writing and he has to finish it up in the next book

This story was good and it had a lot of suspense and mystery in it. There were lots of things going on when you get like half way into the book. But, the book started out a little boring and didn't really get into the plot until you were done with about a third of the book and then the whole mystery part of it starts to come in. There were a lot of descriptive paragraphs in the book that made you feel like you were there with the characters in the story. But, there were parts in the story where the author got a little too descriptive about unimportant things and that's when it would get a little boring, but that was only a few times.

I would recommend this book to other high school students, mainly because it is about a high school student and there is a lot about his personal life and not just the mystery they are trying to solve in the story. There's a lot of stuff to understand in the story but it all comes together in the end and it's pretty suspenseful.

Master of Murder, another perfect book by Christopher Pike
Although it was published five years ago, I still bought the book and didn't regret one penny of it.

The master of teen thrillers, who beats R.L. Stine's books by a mile, wrote Master of Murder almost as perfectly and flawlessly as his previous books, which were also very good and attention-grabbing. Christopher Pike has the power to paralize you with his writing in such a way that you can't close any book he's written until it's finished. This was the best one yet.

Master of Murder was about a seventeen-year-old boy named Marvin, who was actually a famous author who had millions of fans and millions of dollars, but wrote under a pen name so nobody knew who he was.

He wanted to remain unknown, for two reasons. One, the last book of his famous series, The Mystery At Silver Spring, was overdue, and he was worried his fame would soon end. Second, he knew that his father could-- and would --take away all his money if he knew how notorious and rich Marvin was.

But then one night Marvin gets a fan letter that says, "I know who you are." At first he isn't that worried, but then more letters begin to come, and soon Marvin is caught in a mystery more complicated and terrifying then his own books.

I advise any other teens who are interested in young adult thrillers to read Master of Murder, and any who aren't, who could learn to love them from this book.

AWESOME---Best book ever!
Christopher Pike is the best author ever. He gives his book suspense, thrill, and everything a book needs to become a great hit. And he did the same with Master of Murder. I've owned the book for over a year, and I read it very often! Everytime I read, I can't put it down! Its about a older teen named Marvin. He has alot of secrets. He is in love with Shelly, but most importantly, he is Mack Slate. Mack Slate is the bestselling author who writes thrilling novels that no one can put down.

Hes making millions. He has thousands of fans. But no one knows who he is, because he writes under a pen name because he is afraid that his father will take his millions, and gamble and drink it all away.

Anyways, the story has many hidden effects, and twists. Everything is so unpredictable and I can never stand to put this book down!

Its the BEST!

The Cold One
Published in Hardcover by Tor Books (January, 1995)
Author: Christopher Pike
Average review score:

AWWWWWWWWW YEAH
This book was simply awesome. I couldn't put it down, it went every where with me, the bathtub, the loo, the dinner table, my job and I even attempted to read it while I was driving. Christopher Pike is a master at developing genuine characters. If you can make your reader relate to and or "breathe" with the character, you can sell millions. Certainly, it's not an ability easily obtained. Some of the metaphysical hooie made me yawn [the part of the book that took place in India] which is the only reason I dont give this book a five star rating. But hell, at least I learned a thing or two. I thoroughly enjoyed Sati and I am on my way to reading Seasons of passage. By the way, I highly recommend The Midnight Club and the Chain letter series.

amazingly written!
all i gotta say is READ THIS BOOK!! im not giving any of it away because if u like pike then u'll definetly like the cold one. its gruesome in parts which i like! 8-D this is on of pikes most twisted books ever, but its important to his stories, it has a vauable message of life that no writer has ever explained and could never put it better than the master himself, CHRISTOPHER PIKE! im excited to read the sequel, just got to find the damn book.

"One Of Pike's Best'
I'm only 13 and I started reading Pike's books for young adults about 1/2 year ago. I've read almost all his books now. This book took me 2 hours to finish. I couldn't put it down. If you like Pike's books, you have to read this one. Other good books by Pike are: Sati; Season Of Passage; The Listeners; Fall Into Darkness; Remember Me 1, 2, and 3; and Final Friends 1,2,and 3. PS. Does anyone know when "The Cold One 2: Seedling" is suppose to come out?

Everything She Ever Wanted: A True Story of Obsessive Love, Murder, and Betrayal
Published in Hardcover by Simon & Schuster (December, 1992)
Author: Ann Rule
Average review score:

A Hint of A Sequel??
"Everything She Ever Wanted" stands out among the 8 Ann Rule books I have read to date. It is not the most suspenseful or most interesting. It is not set in an especially attractive locale or does not introduce compelling characters. It DOES have Pat Taylor/Allanson. To me, she is the lowest of the low, including that sicko from "Lust Killer". One has to complete all 500+ pages to appreciate how bad/evil/manipulative this woman is. Husbands, children and family mean absolutely nothing to Pat as she schemes her way through life. The title is a bit of a tease, since it was not exactly clear just want Pat "wanted" so badly or if she will ever achieve it. "ESEW" is lengthy by necessity because Pat casts a wide net with her behavior. There is a plethora of children, family members, spouses, cops, defense attorneys, district attorneys and innocent bystanders drawn into the maelstrom surrounding her. This point demonstrates the tale's only weakness. It's too long! I believe the author could have drawn the reader into the plot quicker. With so many "main" characters, some of the minor ones could have been deleted entirely or had their roles abbreviated. I almost put "ESEW" away before being drawn into the same maelstrom mentioned above. Apart from this, the book is definitely recommended. Ann Rule fans need not think twice. New readers may wish to start with the briefer "Lust Killer" or perhaps "I-5 Killer" before tackling the longer fare here. On a positive note, I was inspired by the very real characters of Tom and Susan. They battled back! More power to them. Also, my compliments to two previous reviewers: "Sarbery" observed that owning a few horses doesn't make a Souhern family "refined". Good one!. Another observant reviewer noticed the photographic changes in Susan as the plot thickened. All the more reason NOT to read those pesky centerfold photos (or the back cover!) until the end.Of all A.R.s efforts, I sense a possible sequel here. Have we or haven't we heard the last of Pat?

Another Great One by Ann Rule
Ann Rule never disappoints me! This book spans some 20 years, telling the story of how two families came together in a Gone-With-The-Wind marriage that left some family members dead, and others nearly dead or with ruined lives. Usually I can get the gist of the story by reading the captions under the pictures in the middle of the book, but not this one. Pat Allanson's husband is convicted of murdering his parents, but you don't quite know until the end whether he really did it. Pat tries to kill her husband's grandparents, the book takes you through the trial and conviction, but there are still hundreds of pages left to read! Pat Allanson just doesn't know when to quit! You won't believe how she (and her family) treats her daughter, how she thought she could get away with more attempted murders, and how many lives she could ruin. I just wish Susan would have been tested for poison, and I wish her and her children all the best for having the guts it took to do what she did.

Captivating Ann Rule story of the ultimate sociopath
The most horrific, conniving, controlling, murderous, childish, sick person I have ever read about. Ann Rule is excellent in plotting the story of a truly heinous pathetic soul as Pat. Her enabling, sad parents and family members are to also be responsible for allowing such appalling behavior to continue. Pat would destroy anyone who was in her way, including her own children and grandchildren. There was absolutely no one who was exempt. The pain caused to her own parents was another devious act. She would keep her imprisoned husband from his only family; she would keep a small son from his sick mother (Pat's daughter); she would keep a dying old man from his beloved wife. etc. After serving prison time, and released, it was shocking to learn that she would include one of her daughters into her life of crime and deceit AGAIN. But fortunately, one daughter had the tenacity and courage to report her back to authorities. Family members become enablers and someone should have stopped her long ago, before innocent people are hurt.
